The Hofuf Plant is one of the two operational cement plants under the control of the Saudi Cement Company in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The Hofuf Plant has undergone several expansions and renovations, including an upgrading of its facilities, where ESCA International, Inc. performed a vital role. Currently, the plant has a total kiln capacity of 7825 tons of clinker per day.

Al Noor Mall

Considered to be one of the landmarks in the city of Medina (Madinah) in Saudi Arabia, the Al Noor Mall stands out as one of the modern figures amidst the city’s traditional landscape, with ESCA International, Inc. taking part in bringing this fresh scene into the city. The mall houses a mix of international retail stores, along with a large selection of restaurants and entertainment brands.

Stadium Australia (ANZ Stadium)

ESCA International, Inc. took part in the reconfiguration work of the ANZ stadium (formerly known as Telstra Stadium), a multi-purpose structure designed to hold a capacity above 80,000 spectators. The stadium was also engineered, according to the Ingenia Magazine (2005), along sustainable lines “with the low use of steel in the roof structure in comparison to the Olympic stadiums of Athens and Beijing.”

Described by real estate developers in Hawaii, USA as an extraordinary project that aims to deliver affordable housing to low- to moderate-income Hawaii residents, the Green Homes at Lualualei project was initiated by R.J. Martin in partnership with ESCA International, Inc. and other experienced firms and developers. The official website of the project states that “R.J. set out to build the most affordable and sustainable community on O’ahu. From the layout of the community to the finishing touches on each home, Green Homes at Lualualei offers families the opportunity to save thousands of dollars on utilities each year.”

Jean Jacquelyn Nathania A. De Castro, LL.B.
General Counsel & Vice President, Finance and Administration


Jean A. de Castro joined ESCA in 2011, where she currently serves as General Counsel and Vice President for Finance and Administration. Prior to ESCA, she was a Senior Associate at Villaraza Cruz Marcelo and Angangco and a consultant of the Privatization and Management Office of the Philippine Government.

Currently, Jean is also a consultant of Molo Sia Velasco Dy Tuazon Ty and Coloma Law Offices for construction arbitration. She has attended various FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) Training Modules under its International Contracts Training Course on Contracts Administration and Implementation. She is also a trained arbitrator of the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center Inc.

Jean has an Applied MBA from the Executive Development Academy and an LLB from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, where she finished fifth in her class. She earned her BA in Political Science with great honor also at the state university. She passed the Bar in 2007.

Ernesto S. de Castro, Ph.D.
President/Chief Executive Officer


Dr. Ernesto S. de Castro is a well-respected authority in the Philippine civil and structural engineering industry. His expertise and reputation has helped ESCA International reach its current status as a globally competitive engineering firm.

The desire to advance the profession is reflected in Dr. de Castro’s involvement in several industry associations. He has led the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Philippine Institute of Construction Arbitrators and the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers of the Philippines. He was also President of the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines and the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, and is still a fellow of these groups today. For six years until 1997, he chaired the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission’s Board of Civil Engineering. He has been an accredited Construction Arbitrator of the Construction Industry Arbitration Commission since 1989.

Dr. de Castro earned his PhD in Civil Engineering, Major in Structures, at Lehigh University, Pennsylvania, and completed his MS and BS in Civil Engineering at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. He is a registered structural and civil engineer.
